Amy M. English, CFP® is the Foundation’s Director of Initiatives and Strategy. Amy coordinates with the Foundation Executive Director on day-to-day Virginia operations and works to identify, manage, and coordinate Virginia projects. In addition to overseeing Virginia programs, Amy works with the Foundation to develop and implement strategic plans to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors at all giving levels, and manages the Foundation donor relationships and major gift prospects.
 
Amy combines her philanthropic expertise, 18 years of financial services and family wealth management experience, technical capability, and relational skills as she directs the delivery of services for her families and their Philanthropic legacy. Amy facilitates a family’s legacy discovery, multigenerational engagement and development of the family’s distinct vision. Amy interacts regularly with professional partners ranging from CPA’s, attorneys, and bankers to develop, finalize and implement client solutions. Her thoughtful approach and caring for each family ensures that the services provided and coordinated meet the needs of her families. Amy has completed training in organizational development, generational awareness, group dynamics, and family systems to work more effectively with next-generation funders and family enterprise clients.
 
Amy began her career at Scott & Stringfellow, Inc a wholly owned subsidiary of BB&T Corporation and regional brokerage firm in Richmond, Virginia. After 5 years, she transitioned to the corporate side of BB&T and participated in the BB&T Corporate Management Development Program in Winston-Salem, NC. She, then moved to Northern Virginia in June 2004 to join the BB&T Wealth Management Team as a Financial Planner and Wealth Advisor for high net worth family clients at BB&T Corporation in Fairfax, Virginia. In early 2008, Amy transitioned to a boutique Family Office Firm located in Washington, DC, where she worked as a Senior Wealth Advisor directing the delivery of comprehensive financial services for the families she served.
Amy earned her BA in International Relations and Business from Randolph-Macon College in 1998, became a Certified Financial Planner™ professional in 2006 and earned her Master’s degree in Philanthropic Organizations and Leadership from the University of Denver in 2014. Currently Amy is enrolled in a postgraduate program at The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family at Georgetown University.
 
Outside of her work she remains actively involved with her alma mater, serving on the Society of Alumni Board at Randolph-Macon College and continued support of admission efforts in the Northern VA area. In addition, Amy created and participates on a steering committee to increase the involvement of Women Alumni for RMC in areas of mentoring, gifting to the college, and giving back. Amy and her husband Mike live in Vienna, Virginia.
